Former Texas A&M basketball players Tomas Ress and Bradley Jackson received their college degrees in a surprise presentation here Monday at the Laguna Palace Hotel.
Both players graduated from A&M this month but neither was able to attend official graduation ceremonies in College Station on Saturday. Ress returned early to Italy to begin his professional basketball career while Jackson is playing with the Aggie basketball team on its five-game tour of Italy.
"Tomas and Bradley each faced some adversity ain their careers at A&M and I'm so proud of them for persevering and earning their degrees," A&M coach Melvin Watkins said in making the presentation.
Both players expressed gratitude to Watkins and members of the A&M coaching staff and offered special thanks to Dr. Joe Townsend of the Texas A&M College of Agriculture for making the presentation in Italy possible.
