Shawn Bell threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Dominique Ziegler and then they connected again for the game-winning 2-point conversion, lifting Baylor to a 35-34 overtime upset of No. 16 Texas A&M on Saturday night.
After Texas A&M's Keith Joseph scored on a 16-yard touchdown run on the first possession of overtime, Bell and Ziegler led the Bears to the stunning finish.
Baylor also ended an 11-game skid in the Big 12 and beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 1998, a 33-30 victory over 20th ranked North Carolina State. The Bears are now 38-143-5 against Top 25 teams.
Playing in relief of injured starter Dane King, Bell came through with a remarkable performance in his first start since the final two games of last season, both lopsided loss to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
The sophomore from nearby China Spring, Texas, completed 32 of 50 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns, two to Ziegler.
Ziegler caught 12 passes for 121 yards.
A&M quarterback Reggie McNeal committed his first two turnovers of the season in the loss, throwing an interception and losing a fumble. He had been the only starting quarterback in Division I-A without an interception thrown this season.

AGGIES LOSE TURNOVER BATTLE, LOSE GAME - The Aggies lost their 10th consecutive game when losing the turnover battle. The Aggies gave up two fumbles and an interception that the Bears converted into 14 points. During the Franchione era at Texas A&M, the Aggies are 2-10 when losing the turnover battle and 8-0 in games when they have the advantage.
BEARS END LONG LOSING SKID VS. AGGIES - The Bears' 35-34 overtime victory snapped a 13-game winning streak by the Aggies in the series (dating back to a 20-20 tie in 1990) and a 18-game unbeaten streak (dating back to a 20-15 Baylor win in 1985).
OVERTIME LOSS - The overtime loss moves A&M's overall mark in extra time games to 3-4. It is the first time A&M has played overtime games in back-to-back contests. Last week the Aggies tallied a 29-26 OT win over Colorado. PEGRAM STILL PERFECT - Junior placekicker Todd Pegram (Plano, Texas) remained perfect in 2004 when he connected on a career-long 44-yard field goal in the first quarter. Pegram has hit 10-of-10 three-point tries in 2004 and has connected on 14 straight dating back to 2003.INTERCEPTION-FREE STREAK ENDS - A&M's Big 12 record interception-free streak of pass attempts ended when Reggie McNeal's 19th attempt of the night was picked off by Baylor's Braelon Davis.

McNEAL GENERATES ANOTHER 300-YARD GAME - Aggie quarterback Reggie McNeal turned in his school record fifth 300-yard total offense game of 2004 with 311 total yards against Baylor. It also was his sixth career 300-yard game, which is also a school record. With the effort, McNeal became the sixth member of A&M's 5,000-yard club in total offense. For his career, McNeal has generated 5,217 yards of total offense which ranks No. 4 in school history.
SPREADING THE BALL AROUND - When sophomore Chad Schroeder reeled in his first catch of the season - a 49-yard TD reception - he became A&M's 16th different receiver to have at least one catch this season, which is a school record.
LEWIS HITS 100 - Sophomore running back Courtney Lewis gained 100 yards on 26 carries, which is his second 100-yard game this season and the seventh of his career.
FIRSTS - Senior wide receiver Jason Carter's fourth quarter touchdown pass to Courtney Lewis was the first of his A&M career. Carter, a standout prep QB at Caldwell High School, played his first season at A&M at quarterback before converted to wide receiver in 2003. ... Baylor's punt block in the third quarter marked the first punt block by an A&M opponent since the season finale of 2003 against Texas ... Junior tight end Boone Stutz's second quarter 6-yard touchdown catch was the first of his A&M career ... Sophomore placekicker Layne Neumann (Hondo, Texas), who had only seen action on kickoffs, connected on a 46-yard field goal on his first attempt. ... The Bears' second quarter field goal stopped a nine-quarter scoreless streak by the Aggie defense at Floyd Casey Stadium.
MISCELLANEOUS - Game captains were Byron Jones, Johnny Jolly, Ronald Jones and Ty Branyon. ... The 12th Man Kickoff team representative was John Ray, a sophomore from Giddings, Texas. Ray has been the 12th Man in every game this season.

- Baylor's victory marks the first time Baylor has beaten Texas A&M since 1985 when the Bears knocked-off the Aggies 20-15 in Waco. Texas A&M leads the all-time series 62-30-9.
- The Baylor victory marks the first time the Bears have beaten a ranked opponent since having done so against No. 20 N.C. State in 1998 33-30.

- Baylor QBs have now thrown at least one TD pass in nine consecutive games, dating back to the 2003 season finale against Oklahoma State. That is the longest streak at Baylor since a 10-game run that encompassed the final three games of 1986 and the first seven games of 1987.
