A pair of homeruns and 4 innings of no-hit relief propelled No. 14 Texas A&M to a 7-5 victory over Arkansas Friday afternoon in the Aggies' opening game of the 2004 Domino's Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic.

With Texas A&M leading 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Aggie centerfielder John Infante doubled the lead with a two-run shot, his first of the season. But Arkansas quickly chipped away at the lead, scoring single runs in the top of each of the next two frames.

The Aggies again turned to the longball to get those two runs back, this time with catcher Craig Stinson providing the power. It was also Stinson's first homerun of the year.

Again, Arkansas bounced right back, scoring three runs on two hits, aided by a hit batter and a wild pitch.

With a one-run lead at 6-5, Texas A&M relieved starting pitcher Zach Jackson (3-0) in the top of the sixth, and the Razorbacks failed not only to score another run, but also to get another hit the rest of the game.

Kyle Nicholson pitched one inning, striking out one and walking three before Jason Meyer came on to pitch the remaining three innings to earn his first save of the season. Meyer struck out five and walked only one in his fourth appearance of the year.

The Aggies tacked on one more run in the sixth inning when Erik Schindewolf's sacrifice fly scored Stinson.

Texas A&M will now play New Mexico in game three of the Domino's Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic tonight at 7.m. New Mexico defeated Arkansas 3-1 in the classic opener.
