Texas A&M Postgame Quotes
TEXAS A&M SOPHOMORE JOSEPH JONES: "Tulane is a very physical team and they have some big bodies. We just wanted to come in tonight and battle with them. We held our own. They are bigger than us in the low post but we held our own. We tried hard to keep them off the glass. Our defense has been great so far this year. Coach came in and commended us for our effort on defense tonight. We are all about helping each other defensively and getting pressure on their offense."
TEXAS A&M SOPHOMORE DOMINQUE KIRK: "They had some really big bodies and we knew their guards shoot really well if they get their feet set. We had to get our hands up on defense tonight. Our pressure helps us on defense. I think our depth does a good job of keeping us fresh. Tulane still has their competitive spirit. They came out to play tonight. I cannot imagine what they have had to go through. It has to be really devastating having to go through that."
TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH BILLY GILLISPIE: "This was a good win for us tonight. Both teams played hard. Both teams played hard defense and in transition and both teams attacked the paint well. Tulane's a nice team. I was concerned going in because of their size and how they outweigh us, but we rebounded well. We got turnovers early and were able to guard well and get out to a lead and finish it up. Our defensive rebounding was a lot better tonight. I've got to give them credit because they really go after the ball. They were able to force us to guard the high side of the post and get good angles to the ball but we made a major improvement. We've got to quit fouling. It puts us at a disadvantage. I thought we played better position defense but we had too many fouls. We've got better balance and better depth. I don't know if better balance is a good thing. I wish Antoine (Wright) was still here. He and Bobby (Leach) scored a lot of points for us. I do think we have guys who will become good Big 12 Players. We usually play 7 or 8 players in a game and it looks like we're going to play 10 this year. We don't have enough great players yet. Joseph played hard tonight. He's a very competitive guy. I think Martellus (Bennett) will start practicing with us this week. He'll be a welcome addition. He may address some needs we have right now."NOTES:
