Aggies, Creps Even Series with Red Raiders

Austin Boggs went four-for-four and Austin Creps tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings on Saturday to lead Texas A&M past Texas Tech, 5-1, before 5,886 fans at Olsen Field.
Creps (3-2) scattered five hits, struck out five and walked one. Creps has a miniscule ERA of 0.76 after pitching 47 2/3 innings this season,
With the win, the Aggies improved to 16-10 overall and to 1-4 in Big 12 play. Tech dropped to 19-8 and 2-2 in the league.
?Hopefully we can build on tonight?™s game and come out tomorrow and win the series,? A&M head coach Rob Childress said. ?Creps was outstanding tonight when we needed it. He has been consistent all year and he kept throwing up zeros. I thought we played a complete game tonight and competed for nine innings tonight.?
A&M and Tech will play the rubber match of the three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.
A&M took the lead in the bottom of the first with an unearned run off Red Raider starter Miles Morgan. Blake Stouffer reached on a fielding error by first baseman James Leverton and stole second. After a groundout by Jose Salazar moved Stouffer to third, Boggs drove him in with a single up the middle.
The Aggies exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead. Stouffer singled and moved to third on a single to right by Salazar. Boggs then drove in his second run of the game with a single to right and a walk to Adam Hale loaded the bases. Morgan uncorked a wild pitch allowing Salazar to score and Josh Stinson followed with a two-RBI single.
Tech scored its only run with a solo homer by Joey Callender in the top of the ninth. It was his seventh homer of the season.
Morgan (4-2) suffered the loss, allowing five runs ?- four earned ?- in seven-complete innings on the mound.
Jason Meyer pitched the final 1 2/3 for A&M, allowing one run on two hits. He struck out three and did not walk a man.
