Adam Hale went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and Texas A&M starter Austin Creps pitched 7 1/3 solid innings on Friday night, but No. 4 Nebraska defeated the Aggies, 4-3, before a school-record 8,757 fans here at Haymarket Park.

Creps (3-3) allowed nine hits, including the game-winning single by Jake Opitz in the bottom of the eighth. He stuck out six and walked two.

?I thought Austin Creps did a great job tonight,? A&M head coach Rob Childress said. ?He is a warrior and it is too bad he got the loss tonight. We battled back and took the lead and were not able to get over the hump.?

With the loss, the Aggies dropped to 19-19 overall and to 3-11 in Big 12 play. The Huskers improved to 27-5 and 9-2. Twelve of the Aggies?™ 19 losses and eight of their 11 Big 12 losses have been by two runs or less.

Nebraska starter Tony Watson (6-0) hurled his first-career complete game, allowing five hits and fanning six A&M hitters.

The Huskers took the lead in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs on three singles. Brandon Buckman and Luke Gorsett singled to start the inning and after a strikeout, Andrew Brown chopped an RBI single over the head of third baseman Austin Boggs. Nick Sullivan then grounded into a fielder?™s choice to drive in a run.

Hale?™s three-run blast in the fifth gave the Aggies their first lead of the weekend, 3-2. It was his third of the season and it also scored Kyle Colligan, who singled to start the innings and Ryan Hill, who followed with a walk.

The Huskers tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Wehrle?™s Texas-league single to left plated Jake Mort.

The series finale is set for Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
