No. 2 Soccer Ends Conference Play Against Baylor

After clinching sole possession of their fourth consecutive Big 12 regular season title, the 2nd-ranked Texas A&M soccer team will close out conference play against the Baylor Lady Bears on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
Friday will also serve as Senior Night. The Texas A&M Athletic Department will recognize seniors Sara Albrecht, Amy Berend, Paige Carmichael, Melissa Garey, Elisabeth Jones, Allison Martino, Ashlee Pistorius and Kelly Wilmoth prior to the start of the match.
?Baylor will be ready for this match,? A&M head coach G Guerrieri said. ?They are well coached, and seeing that this is the last game of their season, they will be playing with motivation and energy.?
Baylor enters Friday?™s regular season finale at 7-9-2, 1-7-1 in conference play after falling to Texas Tech last weekend. Despite placing all six of their first half shots on frame, the Bears failed to find the back of the net and headed into halftime with the score deadlocked at zero. Baylor took the lead in the game?™s 75th minute when senior Jessica Huston netted her sixth goal of the season. Tech would counter with two late goals in a span of roughly two minutes to seal the 2-1 win.
A&M carries a 15-2-1, 8-1-0 league record and an 18 home-game winning streak into Friday?™s match. The Aggies took a break from conference action on Friday, playing host to eight-straight Horizon League champion Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Three different Aggies netted goals in the 6-1 win over the Panthers, which included a hat-trick for Jones, the first of her career, and an own goal by the UWM defense. The Aggies captured sole possession to their fourth-consecutive Big 12 regular season title on Sunday with a 5-0 win over Texas Tech. A&M outshot the Red Raiders 33-7 on the day, earning nine corners to Tech?™s five. Pistorius put the Aggies up 2-0, marking the 19th multi-goal game of her career and sophomores Amber Gnatzig, Nicole Ketchum, and Cydne Currie added a goal apiece serving as the eighth and seventh of their respective careers.
Pistorius?™ two goals on the weekend move her within four of tying current leader Bryn Blalack for most career goals scored. The Bloomington, Ill. native currently leads the nation and the Big 12 in scoring this season with 19 goals.
Friday?™s match marks the 14th meeting between the two teams. A&M recorded two wins over the Bears during the ?™06 campaign. The Ags opened conference play in Waco with a 1-0 win before handing BU a 3-0 loss in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament in San Antonio.
The Aggies hold the all-time series lead at 8-4-1, winning the last five meetings, all shutouts.
