The future of Texas A&M men's and women's tennis includes the construction of a six-court climate-controlled indoor tennis facility located adjacent to the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. The indoor facility will also house six championship clay courts for all-year developmental training.
The George P. Mitchell Tennis Center is arguably the finest collegiate tennis facility in the United States and was chosen as the USTA Facility of the Year in 1999. It houses 12 championship courts with permanent seating for 3,000 including a special covered seating area for VIPs. The lighting at the facility also rivals the candle power of the U.S. Open.
Texas A&M's superior facilities have allowed the university and program to serve as host for a variety of NCAA and Big 12 Championship events. A&M will play host to the upcoming NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships on May 14-24, 2009, at the Mitchell Center.
