
Perez Named a CWSA Honda Award Finalist

NEW YORK – Texas A&M's Lucciana Perez was named a finalist for the Honda Award for women's tennis, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards announced Tuesday.
Perez is one of four finalists in the running for the award, which is given to female athletes in 12 different NCAA-sanctioned sports who show excellence not only on the playing field but in the classroom and their community.
This is Perez's first time being nominated for the award following a standout year for the Aggies. She looks to join Mary Stoiana as Texas A&M players to claim the prestigious honor. Stoiana, who earned the award in 2024, was a three-time finalist.
On the court, Perez finished one of the best athletics seasons in Texas A&M history. She helped the Aggies claim their second NCAA women's tennis title in the last three years along with winning their fifth consecutive SEC regular-season crown. was named the SEC Player of the Year following Texas A&M's first-ever undefeated season. She posted a 28-0 singles record, including a 13-0 record in SEC regular-season matches. She logged a 7-0 record in matches against ITA top 10 opponents. In March, she became the second A&M player to ever climb to No. 1 in the ITA singles rankings.
Perez was named to the SEC Community Service Team this year. She has served Texas A&M and the Bryan-College Station community well through various service activities. Most notably she assisted the athletics department's marketing staff in creating a fun Halloween atmosphere for children in the community.
Voting is currently open for the Honda Award among collegiate senior women's administrators. The winner will be announced at a later date.
