Texas A&M
True freshman wide receiver Jerrod Johnson. Fuller, who enrolled at A&M in January, had shared the record with Bob Long and Bethel Johnson.
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Ryan Tannehill made a run at the school record for receiving yards in a season, but fell 41 yards short of Robert Ferguson's record of 885 from 2000. Tannehill had three catches for 31 yards against the Horns on Thursday which moved his season totals to 55 catches for 844 yards. His 55 catches rank No. 6 in school history and his 844 yards rank No. 3.
As a tandem, Tannehill and Fuller combined for 105 catches and 1,474 yards this season, making them among the most prolific receiving tandem in school history. It was just the second time in school history that a pair of receivers had 50 or more catches. The combined 105 catches tied for second-most in school history (12 off the record set by Rod Bernstine and Keith Woodside in 1986), while the 1,474 yards was just four yards off the record of 1,478 set by Jamaar Taylor and Bethel Johnson in 2002.
Senior Stephen McGee, who missed several games due to a sprained shoulder, came off the bench to throw for 207 yards on 16-of-24 passing. Tonight, he passed Edd Hargett to move to No. 4 on A&M's career passing list with 5,475 yards. He also increased his career total offense numbers to 7,245, which ranks No. 2 in school history.
True freshman Cyrus Gray, a late addition to Mike Sherman's first signing class earlier this year, broke the freshman season record for all-purpose yards with 152 yards against the Horns. Gray finished his first season with 1,592 all-purpose yards which broke the old mark of 1,551 set by Dante Hall in 1996. Gray's 1,592 yards rank in a tie for No. 4 overall in school history (tied with Bob Smith in 1950).
Gray also produced 146 yards on six kickoff returns against Texas, including a long return of 62 yards. It marked his fifth game with 100 or more kickoff return yards and it was the No. 5 kickoff return total in school history. Gray owns four of the top six kickoff return games in school history.
Senior Justin Brantly became the first punter in school history to average 43 yards or more in four consecutive season. He finished the day with a 48.0 average on four punts and had one "coffin corner" effort. For his career, Brantly averaged 44.4 yards (No. 2 in school history) on 203 punts and had 58 "coffin corner" kicks (No. 2 in school history).
Injuries put redshirt freshman Danny Baker into the starting lineup against the Longhorns at offensive guard. It was Baker's second career start, but his first-ever on the offensive line (previous start was at tight end).
True freshman Randy Bullock missed his first field goal attempt of the year on a 49-yard attempt.
Tonight's game against No. 4 Texas marked the first time that A&M has played three top five teams in the regular season. The other top five teams were Texas Tech and Oklahoma.
Game captains were seniors Justin Brantly and Nick LaMantia.
Senior Nick LaMantia was the 12th Man for the 30th time, which increases his own school record for 12th Man starts.
