No. 19 Aggies Rally to Finish Fourth at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 19-ranked Texas A&M closed with the best round of the day on Sunday to finish tied for fourth at the Tar Heel Invitational at the University of North Carolina's Finley Golf Course.
Senior Julia Boland fired a two-under-par 70 to lead the Aggies to a team score of one-over 289. A&M shot even par over the last two rounds after opening with a 16-over 304 on Friday.
No. 10 Michigan State claimed the title by 12 strokes with a 54-hole score of 860. No. 4 Auburn was second at 872, followed by No. 12 Alabama (875), A&M (304-287-289=880 and Vanderbilt (880).
"We had solid golf from all five of our players today," A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. "Our team dynamics are really good right now. I'm very proud of everyone this week. We didn't let the bogeys get to us because we knew we had birdie holes ahead of us."
Louisville's Sara-Maude Juneau captured individual honors by six shots with a 10-under score of 70-68-68=206. A&M freshman Sara Beth Davis (72-72-72=216) tied for sixth while Boland (76-72-70=218) tied for 11th.
A&M senior Ashley Freeman (76-71-74=221) tied for 21st, junior Sarah Zwartynski (80-72-75=227) tied for 53rd and freshman Chloe Garner (81-76-73=230) tied for 64th.
Tennessee finished fifth at 881, followed by No. 13 Duke (883), No. 21 Virginia (884), Wake Forest (885), No. 22 Louisville (887), North Carolina (890), No. 6 Denver (892), No. 25 South Carolina (893), No. 20 Florida State (898), North Carolina State (900), UNC Wilmington (903), Kent State (905) and East Carolina (946).
The Aggies are back in action at the Alamo Invitational Oct. 26-27 in San Antonio.
