The Aggies lost to then-No. 1 UCLA (65-62) in the 2006 Wooden Classic and also played the first and second round games of the 2008 NCAA Tournament in Anaheim. All three games were played at the Honda Center. In the 2008 NCAAs, A&M upset No. 23 BYU (67-62) then lost to No. 2-ranked and top-seeded UCLA (51-49) in a controversial finish.
- Clemson (4-0) is ranked No. 19 in both polls (AP and ESPN/USA Today). A&M's last win against a ranked team was in last year's regular-season finale against No. 12 Missouri (96-86).
