COLLEGE STATION - Aggie fans and members of the Bryan-College Station community are invited to attend a welcome home celebration for the 2009 NCAA Men's and Women's National Championship Texas A&M track and field teams. Texas A&M Head Track and Field Coach Pat Henry and members of his staff and the student-athletes are due to arrive back in College Station around 10 p.m. on Sunday night.
The teams will arrive via bus at approximately 10:15 p.m. and will unload in the third base parking lot of Olsen Field, directly across the street from the track and field offices.
Texas A&M Director of Athletics Bill Byrne will be on hand to say a few words and to introduce Coach Henry. The Texas A&M Yell Leaders will also be on hand.
Fans are encouraged to park in either the first or third base parking lots at Olsen Field and gather in the grassy median between the two lots. The buses will unload in the third base lot along the curb of the grassy median.
This marks the second and third NCAA Championship for Texas A&M this year.
In Big 12 history, this marks the first men's NCAA track and field championship since Kansas earned the crown back in 1970.
The dual championships - men's and women's, is a first in NCAA history since Coach Pat Henry's LSU teams won the national titles in 1990.
