COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M baseball program was once again near the top of the list in attendance as the NCAA released its 2009 figures this week.
The Aggies drew 142,660 fans to 35 dates at Olsen Field, for an average of 4,076 per date. Both A&M's total attendance and average attendance ranked ninth nationally in 2009, making the Aggies one of just two teams in both the state of Texas and the Big 12 to place in the top 10 in both categories.
Consistently among the top-drawing collegiate baseball programs in the country, Texas A&M joins LSU and Texas as just one of three schools to draw over 135,000 fans through the turnstiles in each of the last 10 seasons.
In addition, the Aggies' total attendance of 1.78 million over the last 11 years ranks fifth in the nation, while their average crowd of 4,656 over that same time span ranks sixth.
Texas A&M will play 37 games in 2010 in front of the Olsen Field faithful, with the home opener slated for Friday, February 19 against Seton Hall. Among the teams making the trip to College Station this spring are Washington State, BYU, Penn State, Rice, Dallas Baptist, Texas Tech, Missouri, Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas State and Texas.
