
Final Round at Royal Oaks Cancelled; Aggie Golf Finishes Second

DALLAS--The Texas A&M men's golf team finished second at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Tuesday after the final round was cancelled due to persistent heavy rains and lightning in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
11th-ranked Iowa was declared team champion after finishing 36 holes at 17-under par 551. The Aggies finished five strokes back at 12-under (556), while No. 15 Arkansas (-4) was eight shots back of A&M in third place. Penn State (-3) and SMU (-3) finished in a tie for fourth, followed by No. 25 Texas Tech (-1), Oklahoma (+2), UNLV (+4), Baylor (+8), Lamar (+11), New Mexico (+14) and Long Beach State (+22).
Iowa's Vince India earned individual medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 10-under (66-66=132). Aggie senior Conrad Shindler, playing as an individual, turned in rounds of 68-66=134 to finish in second place at 8-under, just two shots back. Junior Jordan Russell (65-70=135) finished third at 7-under, while sophomore Case Cochran (71-65=136) tied for fourth at 6-under.
Sophomore Cameron Peck placed 23rd after a 1-over 143 (71-72), while junior Geoff Shaw carded a 2-over 144 (72-72) and finished 29th. Senior John Hurley shot a second-round 70 ended play in 41st at 5-over.
The Royal Oaks Intercollegiate completed the fall season for Texas A&M, one which saw the Aggies finish fourth or better in all five tournaments. A&M will return to the links February 16-18 at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'i.
