GAME NOTES
Middleton Earns Big 12 Weekly Honors
Texas A&M sophomore Khris Middleton was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for games of Dec. 13-19 by the league office ... Middleton scored a career-high 31 points to lead the 25th-ranked Aggies to a 71-62 overtime victory over Arkansas at American Airlines Center in Dallas ... he was 10-for-16 from the field and hit 9-of-12 free throws to help A&M improve to 10-1 on the year and win its seventh straight game ... with the Aggies down six in the second half, Middleton scored 11 of the A&M's final 12 points of regulation to force overtime ... his 31 points were the most by an A&M player in nearly four years.
Middleton joins Acie Law, Josh Carter and Bernard King as the only players in Texas A&M history to claim a Big 12 weekly award ... he is the first to take home the honor since Law was named Big 12 Player of the Week in late February of 2007.
Seven Straight
A&M suffered its first loss of the year on Thanksgiving Day, a two-point setback to a hot-shooting Boston College squad ... since then, the Aggies have won seven straight and held their opponents (Manhattan, No. 20 Temple, SFA, Pacific, Prairie View, No. 21 Washington, Arkansas) to a sparse 36 percent shooting from the floor and 27 percent from 3-point range ... during that span, Aggie foes have averaged just over 56 points per game and been out-rebounded by a margin of 10 boards.
The seven-game win streak is A&M's longest since the 2008-09 season, when the Aggies won their final 10 non-conference games ... it is already the third time a Mark Turgeon-coached A&M team has won at least six straight games (10 games, 2008-09; 8 games, 2007-08; 7 games, 2010-11).

LAST TIME OUT: (#25) Texas A&M 71, Arkansas 62
DALLAS (Dec. 18)--Mark Turgeon was calling a timeout. After Middleton tried to help the players up, one of his teammates got pushed into Peterson after Arkansas players were already coming off the bench to greet their teammates for the fast start. The pushing and shoving then escalated at midcourt near the scorer's table though no punches were thrown. It took the officials more than 10 minutes to sort out the situation. They looked at several replays, taking notes on a piece of paper. Arkansas' Marvell Waithe and Kourtney Roberson of Texas A&M were ejected for coming off the bench and getting involved in the fracas. Soon after play resumed, Harris had a steal and was heading to the basket when he passed to Middleton trailing him for a basket. Rotnei Clarke responded with a 3-pointer for the Razorbacks, giving them their biggest lead at 45-35. Texas A&M finally caught up when David Loubeau's free throw with 4:17 left in regulation tied the game 58-all. The next score was Middleton's two free throws with 2:05 left that gave A&M its first lead of the second half. Arkansas' last field goal of regulation came when Mardracus Wade had a breakaway layup for a 58-52 lead with 6:43 left. The Razorbacks forced overtime when Julysses Nobles made two free throws with 1:06 left. Middleton's free throw with 3:48 left in overtime broke the 60-all tie, and put Texas A&M ahead to stay. There wasn't another score until Loubeau hit a short jumper after taking an inbound pass from Middleton with 2:10 left. Nathan Walkup had 15 points and was the only other player in double figures for the Aggies, who played for the first time since entering the AP Top 25 for the first time this season last Monday. Clarke had 14 points with four 3-pointers to lead Arkansas, which had won four straight. Nobles scored 12 points. Texas A&M had led throughout most of the first half until Nobles drove for a layup to give Arkansas a 35-33 at the halftime buzzer.
Texas A&M Head Coach Mark Turgeon: "That was a great win for us. I thought Arkansas was fantastic. I thought they played great. They made a lot of shots in the first half. The big kid, (Delvon) Johnson, is incredible. He just dictated the whole game. If he doesn't block it, he intimidates it. And they kept us off the boards for the most part. But I thought the altercation at the foul table changed the game. We were sleepwalking. We seemed tired. And that really changed us. But what it came down to was two really good defensive teams, and no one could score. We just made more free throws in the end. We made a big out-of-bounds under play (in overtime), David (Loubeau) made a great play on that. I thought our defense was tremendous for most of the game, but in the last 5 minutes of regulation and the 5 minutes of overtime, it was tremendous. After halftime, we took care of the ball better. And our bench--Naji Hibbert, Derrek Lewis, Andrew Darko, Keith Davis--what minutes they gave us. That 4 or 5 minutes in there, that just totally changed the game. I learned a lot about my team today. It was a really gutsy win. Those guys really changed the game for us. (Khris Middleton was) Unbelievable. He was really good tonight. You could see it early, he felt it. We ran a lot of plays for him. Our guys did a great job screening for him and giving him the ball. He got to the foul line obviously, which helped a lot. He was fantastic. I thought his defense was tremendous too."
