LINCOLN, Neb. - Barret Loux allowed one hit over seven strong innings to lead Texas A&M to a 6-1 win over Nebraska Friday night before 3,571 fans at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

Loux (7-2) escaped a first-and-third, no-out jam in the first with strikeouts of the Huskers' three through five hitters. After that, NU threatened briefly in the second and was unable to muster any offense until pushing its only run across with a two-out single in the seventh. John Stilson then fanned five of the six batters he faced over the final two innings to close out the game.

With the win, the Aggies improved to 24-16-1 and 8-10-1 in Big 12 play. Nebraska fell to 19-23 and 6-13.

"Barret was able to get through the first and second innings and we were able to score first," A&M coach Rob Childress said. "He was just outstanding tonight."

Scoreless into the third, A&M began the inning with a lead single and an RBI double to the wall in left by Brodie Greene. After Greene scored on a passed ball, Joe Patterson lifted a single to left to make the score 3-0.

A passed ball and wild pitch would plate two more Aggie runs in the fourth to increase the lead to five, and Matt Juengel launched a long home run to left field in the seventh for a 6-0 lead.

D.J. Belfonte's two-out single in the seventh off Loux scored Nebraska's lone run of the evening.

Juengel had a team-high two hits and scored a game-high two runs to lead the Texas A&M offense.

Loux earned the win after giving up seven hits, one run and a walk while striking out nine.

Michael Mariot (4-5) suffered the loss, issuing seven hits, six runs (four earned) and three walks while fanning a career-high nine.

The series continues on Saturday with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m. Sophomore Ross Stripling (3-3, 4.41) will face NU freshman Tyler Niederklein (3-0, 1.59).

"We haven't done anything yet, and our players know that," Childress said. "We have our hands full tomorrow with their hottest pitcher going. We'll have to come out ready to go tomorrow."
