Texas A&M Senior F Nathan Walkup
On having 13 rebounds - "I was just trying to get extra possessions. I couldn't make a free throw so I had to do something to help our team. I got a couple of rebounds off free-throws. It's just a mindset, you have to go get it and I wasn't doing anything else effective so I had to go and get it."
On being comfortable with late game situations - "Yeah, we practice late game situations every week and we work on execution and getting the last three stops you need, work on rebounding so every time we are in a close game we feel more and more comfortable in these last few games."
Texas A&M Head Coach Mark Turgeon
On the win against Texas Tech - "I was really proud of our guys today, I thought we had a really tough week, we lost three straight and then come and play on Saturday and I was concerned about our energy level. We were going to need a great bench today and we did. Tech played great made a lot of tough shots, played with great toughness, and neither team could make a free-throw down the stretch. I thought D'walyn Roberts was great rebounding, and Crockett really helped them. We just went to David (Loubeau) and he tied the game for us. If we could've made some free throws, it would've really helped us out, and it wouldn't have been so close. However, we didn't. We've been in the same position the last two weeks with nine seconds to go and up by three. But it showed great toughness by our guys because we got off to a weak start and willed ourselves back in it."
On Texas Tech's three-point shooting - "Well they haven't really shot them as well. They have three guys that can really shoot it. When they hit the first one I knew that'd get them going and then Reese hit his and got him going, and then Bean comes in, (Javarez Willis) and he hits his. I was like oh boy, here we go, the only guy not hitting them was Roberson but then he hit two big ones late. Texas Tech has been playing hard you have to throw the Texas games out the window because Texas is so good right now, and Kansas came in and got them, but they are 3-3 on the rest of us, and every film I've watch they've played better and played harder. You can see the effort in the seniors. I knew this was going to be a tough game. I knew we were going to have to play well to beat them and we did. There is a lot of fight in that Tech team and when you play Texas twice and Kansas early that's hard. It hurts your confidence when you play good teams like that."
On Texas Tech's line-up for the game - "I thought when Lewandowski was on the bench and Singletary was on the bench they were hard to guard. When 30 (Jaye Crockett) came in, and he drives you it made them hard to guard. They had us spaced out and we are pretty good defensively. We've been good at least the last two and half games and they had us spread. I thought they were much harder to guard to be real honest with you and I think he had the players on the floor that he needs to try and win the game."

On the loss to Texas A&M - "We played good for 37 minutes but the last couple of minutes we lost it on free-throws and block-outs. I think there was one instance where Kourtney Roberson missed his free-throw but Nathan Walkup got the rebound, missed it, got his own rebound and put it in. After that, it just sparked their whole team. After that, Kourtney Roberson got a rebound of a missed free-throw, we just beat ourselves, to me."
On if it affected the team without Mike Singletary -"It affected us a lot. We could've used 13 points, I mean his average is 13. So if you think about if we would've just had his average today we would've won by seven points. It was huge because Mike Singletary is a leader on this team along with John Roberson. They've been here the longest and they are the most experienced, so not having him really hurt us."
Brad Reese --
On Texas Tech's big lead early in the game - "We got up by 10 or 12 because we were playing good defense, getting in the passing lanes and rebounding well. We basically just limited their options on offense. We just didn't finish the game like we wanted to do.
On the last play of the game - "Coach just wanted two high ball screens to set up a three-point shot, and I had to take the shot. We were just trying to get a good look at anybody. It wasn't set up for me."
Texas Tech Head Coach Pat Knight --
On the stretch where they scored seven points and grabbed offensive rebounds - "That killed us. That's obvious. You have to block out, it's that simple. We'll probably put together a tape of just bad plays. I mean you had missed block-outs, missed free throws, and missed layups. It adds up and you just kill yourself, you know it seemed like we'd get going a little bit and then we make a bad play and it'd go in their favor, and you have to play smarter especially when you play good teams."
On missing big shots down the stretch - "You have to hit shots. If you get a lay-up, you have to hit it. You can't get a better shot than that, and you have to hit shots. You have to make layups and free-throws. If you hit the lay-ups and free-throws, you get four or six points. So it's not like they clamped down on us. If you make those, then you make four or six points in that three minute stretch."
On the Lewandowski and Crockett getting into foul trouble - "I thought Paul Cooper did a good job. I don't think it affected us at all because Jaye (Crockett) made some really good buckets. So I don't think it really hurt us at all and they didn't kill us inside. I thought the start of the second half it could hurt us because they were going inside a lot but we came out of that situation pretty good."
On the last 19 seconds of the game - "If we come down and get a three fine, but we don't have to panic. If you get a wide-open two pointer, then let's take it and foul. Now, we can try to get a three, so you're given both options. It really just has to do with the clock. We had 19 seconds, and our guys played it perfectly. We got a great layup and still had a chance, but it all has to do with the clock. Now, if we would have had 10 seconds, I might consider the philosophy to get a three. With 19 seconds, you can pretty much take your time and either get a quick three or two. I was glad we got a two. It didn't work out in the end but it still gave us another opportunity to tie the game."
