
Adams Wins Again in Austin

Adams, who took first place over former Olympian Katie Hoff Saturday in the 400-meter individual medley, beat out another pool of daunting competition to take first in the 200-meter butterfly event with a time of 2:06.76.
Senior teammate Rita Medrano joined Adams in the butterfly finals and took seventh place for the Aggies after touching in 2:12.72.
Sophomore Breeja Larson made her second finals appearance of the three-day meet in the 100-meter breaststroke, in which she took second place behind Olympian Rebecca Soni by less than two seconds with a time of 1:08.29.
Rounding out the Aggies' individual finals appearances was sophomore Sarah Henry. Her time of 8:40.37 in the 800-meter freestyle event was good enough for sixth place. Junior Maureen McLaine finished just three spots behind Henry with a ninth place finish of 8:46.50 while sophomore Ashley Adams finished in tenth with a time of 8:48.73.
A pair of sophomores shined for A&M in the consolation finals Sunday. Paige Miller found her stride in the 100-meter backstroke with a tenth place finish overall with a time of 1:03.33 just before classmate Erica Dittmer finished with an tenth place of her own in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:17.45.
The Aggies' only other finals appearance was a second place relay effort of Miller, Larson, Medrano and sophomore Kim Pavlin in the 400-meter medley relay. The A&M "B" relay of junior Tess Simpson Dittmer, Cammile Adams and freshman Ellen Quirke also grabbed third place in the event to close the meet for the Aggies.
The women's team will compete next on the road in a dual meet against Louisiana State University Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
