Nowacek Wins AQHA Collegiate Challenge

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - In the event's inaugural year, Texas A&M equestrian senior Carey Nowacek won the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge.
The San Antonio, Texas, native was the No. 1 seed entering Thursday night's finals after competing against a field of 16 collegiate riders from around the country. Nowacek bested three other riders in the championship round in Megan Hawkins (Georgia), Lauren Crivelli (Fresno State) and Jarrod Bush (University of Findlay) for the title.
The Aggies host No. 1 South Carolina tomorrow at 2 p.m. in A&M's first Southeastern Conference (SEC) home meet of the season and the team's second show against a top-ranked team in 2012.
