KARUIZAWA, Japan- Texas A&M sophomore Marijosse Navarro is set to play in the World Amateur Team Championships from Sept. 3-6 in Karuizawa, Japan. Navarro, who was an All-American in 2014, will compete for her native Mexico as they pursue the Espirito Santo Trophy.
Navarro will tee off at 8:55 a.m. local time on Sept. 3 on the Karuizawa 72 Golf East course, which is 6:55 p.m. on Sept. 2 in College Station, due to the time difference.
The World Amateur Team Championships date back to 1958, with the women's competition, the Espirito Santo Trophy, dating back to 1964. The competition is held only in even-numbered years.
Navarro finished sixth at the 2014 NCAA Championship, which matched the program's best finish by an individual. She finished in the top 20 of all six tournaments she played in during 2014.
Texas A&M, who finished 10th at last year's NCAA Women's Golf Championships, starts its 2014-15 campaign with the “Mo”Morial, at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas on Sept. 8-10.
