Aggie women host North Texas in home opener
Oct 22, 2015 | Women's Swimming and Diving
COLLEGE STATION—The Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team will host the University of North Texas in a dual meet at 3 p.m. Friday for its home opener. Admission to the competition at the Student Recreation Natatorium is free.
Coming off of a win at Kentucky in their season opener, the Aggies look to remain unbeaten as they head back to College Station. The Aggies were unbeaten at home last season and look to add onto the eight-meet home win streak that dates back to the 2013-2014 season.
The Aggies saw plenty of success in the season opener against Kentucky. The win included two first-place relays, nine individual wins in the pool and a diving victory.
Earning Southeastern Conference weekly honors for their efforts against Kentucky were Sarah Gibson and Sydney Pickrem. Gibson, a senior from San Antonio, earned SEC Swimmer of the Week with wins in the 1,000 free (10:02.67) and 100 fly (55.03), as well as with the 400 free relay (3:28.20). Pickrem, from Dundedin, Fla., was named SEC Freshman of the Week after a stellar performance in the first meet of her college career. Pickrem won in the 200 IM (2:02.18) and the 200 free (1:49.50).
