Blue-Chip Habib Signs with Texas A&M
Nov 12, 2015 | Men's Tennis
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M men's tennis announced the signing of blue-chip recruit, Hady Habib, to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday afternoon.
Habib is ranked the number four prospect in the country according to Tennis Recruiting Network, choosing the Aggies over offers from Baylor and Texas. The Giammalva Tennis Academy product is rated as the best prep player in the state of Texas and second in the Gulf Region. Habib sports a No. 102 ranking on the ITF boys list, ranking as high as No. 77 earlier in his career.
"The Aggies are very excited about Hady joining our team," Texas A&M men's tennis head coach Steve Denton said. "He is an extremely hard worker and disciplined young man with a burning desire to be a great tennis player. I look for Hady to be an immediate impact player when he joins our team next fall."
Habib gained invaluable international experience last July in the Davis Cup as a member of Lebanon's team in the Group II Asia/Oceana Relegation Play-Off, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The host nation won the overall match 3-2, but Habib made his presence known, going 2-1 overall.
Habib's future teammates conclude the fall season this weekend as sophomore Arthur Rinderknech will compete at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships hosted at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY beginning Thursday.
