TEXAS A&M MEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAM LENDS A HAND TO THE BCS COMMUNITY
Sep 03, 2015 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Center for Student-Athlete Services
College Station, Texas—The Texas A&M Men's Swimming and Diving team kicked off the fall semester by doing community service for Twin City Missions.
The team worked to clear out Twin City Missions' warehouse in Bryan in preparation for the organization's annual coat and blanket drive.
Director of Community Relations for Twin City Missions Ron Crozier had nothing but praise for the team:
"We know that when these guys show up, it's all business. They know how to have a good time, but they also know what the desired result is and they make it happen. We only have to give instructions once, tell them what we want it to look like, and just like that it happens. Our Coat/Blanket give-away is such a huge part of this community and we're blessed to have the relationship we have with these great ambassadors of Texas A&M."
The team hopes to perform community service once a month in order to give back to the community and grow as a team. Players and coaches alike see not only how the community benefits from their service, but also how they benefit as a team and as individuals through it.
"These community service projects are a win-win for everybody," Head Coach Jay Holmes said of the experience, "While I know Twin City says it really helps them, it might actually help our team more. Getting our guys together, working towards helping someone else, is a great benefit for our team. I'm thankful Twin City gives us the opportunity to do it."
Senior team captain Mitch Glander also weighed in on the community service outing: "We do this every year. It's a great opportunity for us to give back to the community while being able to get the team back together for the first time before school starts. We're looking forward to giving back more as the season continues."
The Aggies' home opener is on October 30 against Incarnate Word. To learn more about the Men's Swimming and Diving team, log onto 12thman.com or follow @AggieSwimDive on Twitter.
