COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men's basketball program has announced the signing of highly-regarded guard/forward Savion Flagg from Alvin High School.
"Savion is a versatile athlete who can play any position on the perimeter," Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy said. "He's a great passer and has an ability to score as well as make the guys he's playing with better. His size and athleticism will give him the chance to impact our program right away."
A member of ESPN's elite Top 100 list, Flagg is regarded as a consensus four-start prospect who is rated as the fourth best prospect in the state of Texas by ESPN as well as the 73rd overall prospect nationally. Additionally, he is regarded as the 55th recruit nationally by Scout and No. 57 by Rivals.
Flagg is entering his senior season at Alvin where he plays for head coach John Oliverio. As a junior last season he averaged just under a double-double, averaging 17.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per outing to earn first-team All-District 22-6A accolades. A prolific scorer throughout his high school career, Flagg averaged 17.9 points per game as a sophomore and 14.1 points as a freshman in 2013-14.
In AAU competition, Flagg played with the Houston Defenders before choosing Texas A&M over Baylor, Florida, LSU, Oregon, Texas and Virginia Tech among others.
