No. 11 Texas A&M Men’s Tennis Sweeps Senior Day Doubleheader

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 11 Texas A&M men's tennis team sent the senior class out in style defeating Abilene Christian, 5-1, and LSU, 5-2, Friday afternoon at the George P Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station. The Aggies (25-8, 8-4) topped the Wildcats (18-9) and Tigers (14-10, 5-7) behind a trio of wins from their three seniors.
Seniors Harrison Adams, Shane Vinsant and Jackson Withrow were honored prior to the match along with manager Matt Rogers and trainer Devin Bowie. Adams and Vinsant partnered to defeat Jason Proctor and Paul Domanski to clinch the doubles point against ACU. Withrow took a straight-set victory over the Wildcat's Nico Agritelley on court three. Adams put the exclamation mark on his senior day, topping LSU's Andrew Korinek 6-4, 6-3 on court five.
In addition to Adams and Vinsant doubles point clinch against ACU, Max Lunkin and Arthur Rinderknech overpowered Josh Sheehy and Hunter Homan, 6-1, on court three. The maroon and white maintained the advantage throughout the match. Freshman Aleksandre Bakshi defeated Proctor 6-1, 6-2 followed by Withrow's triumph over Agritelley to push the A&M advantage to 3-0. Junior Frankie Colunga clinched the team match after besting Henry Adams 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Sam Giammalva topped Paul Domanski 6-4, 6-4 before ACU got on the board with a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(6) win by Hunter Holman over James Martell.
For the first time in eight matches, the Aggies found themselves in a deficit following doubles play as LSU took the doubles point. Lunkin and Rinderknech topped Gabor Csonka and Andrew Korinek 6-1 on the third court. The Tigers stormed back to take the match's first point. No. 9 Boris Aria and Jordan Daigle topped Bakshi and Withrow followed by Justin Butsch and Tam Trinh bested Adams and Vinsant.
The Aggies switched the momentum in singles action, taking four of six first sets. Adams was the first point on the board for the home team, defeating Korinek 6-4, 6-3 on court five. No. 16 Rinderknech overpowered No. 48 Daigle 6-2, 6-3 on court one to push A&M ahead 2-1. Sophomore Jordi Arconada pushed the advantage to 3-1, topping Csonka 7-5, 6-3 on court three. Junior Max Lunkin clinched the match for the home team, the north-paw edged past Tam Trinh 7-5, 7-5 on court six. No. 102 Butsch put LSU's second point on the board, defeating No. 52 Vinsant on court two. Sophomore AJ Catanzariti secured the day's final point, winning 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3 on court four over Arias.
Following Friday's matches the Aggies will await the results from around the league Sunday to find out their final SEC finish. The SEC Tournament is scheduled to take place in Columbia, South Carolina beginning on Wednesday afternoon.
