Apr 02, 2016 | Softball
COLLEGE STATION – No. 11 Texas A&M softball defeated Arkansas, 9-1, Saturday for its second-consecutive run rule victory at the Aggie Softball Complex.
The Aggies (29-6, 4-4 SEC) used a six-run fourth inning to break the 1-1 tie, before sealing the win in the fifth on a sophomore Tori Vidales walk-off single to center.
Arkansas (13-22, 0-8 SEC) took an early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single from Rachel Box. A&M responded with a run of its own as freshman Keeli Milligan led off the bottom half with an infield single and stole her 42nd base of the season. After advancing to third on a freshman Kaitlyn Alderink groundout, Milligan scored on a Vidales single to left.
The Aggies rallied in the fourth, plating six runs on four hits and two walks. Senior Breanna Dozier recorded a leadoff walk as A&M loaded the bases on back-to-back singles from sophomore Kristen Cuyos and freshman Riley Sartain.
Senior Alex Masek, who pinch ran for Dozier, scored on a fielding error by catcher Lauren Archuleta to break the tie. Vidales walked to score Sartain, before senior Cali Lanphear hit a two-RBI double to left to give A&M a 5-1 lead.
Sophomore Ashley Walters capped off the inning with a double to right center, scoring Vidales and Lanphear.
In the fifth, Cuyos belted her team-leading 11th home run to begin the inning. Sartain was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a Milligan double before Alderink walked on four pitches to load the bases. Vidales then hit a walk-off single off the wall in center, plating Sartain.
Sophomore Trinity Harrington tossed a complete game four-hitter in the circle with three strikeouts to move to 5-1 on the season.
