Champ Wraps Up NCAA Championship Showing in 85th

EUGENE, Ore. — Saving his best score for his final round at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, Texas A&M sophomore Cameron Champ fired an even par 70 Sunday at Eugene Country Club to end his showing at the championship in a tie for 85th.
The impressive round helped Champ (74-76-70=220, +10) climb 34 spots on the leaderboard after entering the day in 119th place. Making the turn at two-over par, the Sacramento, Calif., native carded back-to-back birdies on No. 11 and No. 12 before notching six consecutive pars. The round stood out as his 12th of even par or lower this season and dropped his team-leading scoring average to 72.82.
Oregon's Aaron Wise owns the top spot on the individual leaderboard as, following the conclusion of the third round, the field was trimmed to 15 teams and nine individuals from non-advancing teams. Memorial Day will see an individual champion crowned after a final 18 holes, while the top eight teams in the standings at the end of the day will advance to the event's match play portion which will decide the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Golf National Champion.
