Trevor Knight
Texas A&M’s Knight named to Manning Award watch list

NEW ORLEANS --- Texas A&M graduate transfer quarterback Trevor Knight was included on the preseason watch list for the Manning Award, which is given annually to college football's top quarterback after the conclusion of the bowl games.
For Knight, from San Antonio, Texas via the University of Oklahoma, it marked his fifth watch list of the 2016 preseason. He had previously been named to watch lists for Maxwell Award, the Wuerffel Trophy, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Knight joined the Aggies in January after playing three seasons for the Sooners and he won the starting nod at quarterback after a strong performance in the spring. At OU, Knight started 15 games, including two bowl games, passed for more than 3,000 yards while rushing for 800 more.
The Manning Award, presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, was created in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
"We once again have a great group of quarterbacks returning to college football this fall," said Archie Manning. "While this Watch List has many of the best returning players, we look forward to making midseason additions as teams settle on definite starters and as young players step up and make names for themselves. I'm really looking forward to getting the season rolling to see which guys will rise to the top and become Manning Award finalists."
