
Jennifer Madu races in Olympic final of 4x100 relay as Nigeria places eighth

RIO DE JANEIRO – Texas A&M senior Jennifer Madu raced in the final of the 4x100 relay at the Olympic Games on Friday evening, running the third leg for Nigeria as they placed eighth in 43.21 seconds.
Simone Facey, meanwhile, earned a silver medal as Jamaica placed second in the final in a time of 41.36, behind the winning mark of 41.01 by the United States. Facey ran the first leg for Jamaica in the semifinal on Thursday.
In the men's 4x400 semifinal, Deon Lendore carried the baton on the third leg for Trinidad & Tobago, splitting 44.78 seconds, as they placed third in the first heat with a time of 2:58.84 behind Jamaica (2:58.29) and United States (2:58.38). However, the squad was disqualified along with Great Britain (2:58.88), who won the second heat.
