Aggies Close Out Homestand Sunday vs. UC Riverside
Sep 17, 2016 | Soccer
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies close out their nine-match homestand Sunday when they host the UC Riverside Highlanders in a 6 pm match at Ellis Field.
The Aggies enter the fray with a five-match shutout streak. The school record is seven consecutive shutouts registered in September 2012. That string fell one shy of the SEC mark of eight set by Georgia in 1999. Danielle Rice, last week's SEC Defensive Player of the Week, has recorded all five shutouts in goal, including wins against Tulsa (2-0), Little Rock (1-0), Illinois (2-0), LSU (3-0) and Georgia (1-0). The Aggies have gone 457:58 without allowing a goal.
Haley Pounds leads the Aggies offense with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Seven other Aggies have scored goals on the season, including Cienna Arrieta and Emily Bates with two apiece.
UC Riverside is 3-2-3 on the year, coming off a 3-0 victory at Houston on Friday night. This marks the first meeting between the two squads. Texas A&M has four consecutive victories against Big West Conference opposition.
Promotions for the event includes Fitness on the Field with a "boot camp" style fitness class offered free of charge. Promotions for all Texas A&M athletic events can be found at www.12thman.com/Promotions.
