COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M hits the road for the first time in the regular-season as the No. 14 Aggies travel to Nashville for a Thursday match against the Vanderbilt Commodores at 7 p.m Central.
The Maroon and White enter the weekend with a six-match win streak, including five shutouts. They are outscoring opponents 11-1 during the stretch. Texas A&M, who played road exhibition matches at Florida and Oklahoma State during training camp, enter the fray with a 7-2-0 overall mark. After two league matches, Texas A&M shares the top in the SEC standings with Arkansas and South Carolina with six points (2-0-0).
Junior HALEY POUNDS is tied for fifth in the league with 15 points. She also ranks fourth in assists (five) and eighth in goals (five). Senior goalkeeper DANIELLE RICE leads the SEC in goals-against average (0.44) and shutouts (five) and she ranks second in save percentage (.846).
The Aggies are 7-0-0 all-time against the Commodores, including 3-0-0 in Nashville. The first meeting came in 1995 when the Maroon and White notched a 4-2 win in College Station. The teams have met four times as SEC brethren with the Aggies securing victories of 4-0 (2012 - Nashville), 3-0 (2013 - College Station), 6-2 (2014 - Nashville) and 1-0 (2015 - College Station).
