Texas A&M senior Maddie Szeryk was selected as Canada's Female Amateur Golfer of the Year for 2017. Szeryk recorded three victories in amateur tournaments this season, a victory at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, while playing for Texas A&M, and two victories over the summer at the B.C. Women's Amateur and the Women's Western Amateur Championships.
Szeryk averaged 70.60 strokes over 15 rounds in the fall, which ranks 18th nationally. In the spring, Szeryk finished 5th at the SEC Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Championship, where she tied for 13th. She earned All-SEC and All-American honors in the 2016-17 season.
Szeryk finished atop the women's National Order of Merit for the third consecutive year, which is used to help determine the winner for the Amateur Golfer of the Year.
Szeryk and the Aggies begin their 2018 schedule Feb. 9-11 at the Florida State Match-Up in Tallahassee.
