GAME PREVIEW: NCAA Regional Championship

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies continue play in their 33rd NCAA Division I Baseball Championship with an 8:04 pm game at Schroeder Park. The Aggies look to claim their third consecutive NCAA Regional title on Sunday evening when they face either Houston or Iowa.
Texas A&M enters play with a program-best eight-game win streak in NCAA Regional games. The Maroon and White came out of the losers bracket and won three straight games to claim the 2015 College Station Regional and they won all three games they played in the 2016 College Station Regional.
The Aggies advanced to Sunday night's tilt with a 3-2 victory over Iowa on Saturday. Cole Bedford hit a three-run home run and Corbin Martin held the Hawkeyes to two runs over 7.0 innings while striking out nine in the victory.
Stephen Kolek gets the start for the Aggies on the mound. He owns a 3-4 record with a 3.86 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 79.1 innings.
Shewmake, a Collegiate Baseball All-America First Team honoree and the SEC Freshman of the Year, is hitting .339 (85-for-251) with 42 runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 67 RBI. Shewmake ranks 15th in the nation in RBI (67) and 29th in the nation in hits (85). He leads all Division I freshmen in hits, total bases and RBI.
Texas A&M is playing in their school-record 11th consecutive NCAA Championship.
The Aggies are 80-73 all-time in NCAA Championship play, including a 69-46 mark in regional action. Texas A&M has won regionals in 1993, 1999, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016. They also captured a district playoff in 1951 before regional play began.
