
Texas A&M Falls to No. 24 Missouri in Five Sets

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Texas A&M's upset bid on the road fell short as No. 24 Missouri held on to a 3-2 (23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 22-25, 15-8) victory today at Mizzou Arena.
The Aggies, in search of their first top-25 win of the season, once again put up a good fight as they forced a fifth set for the fifth consecutive match. It also was A&M's eighth five-set match in SEC contests this season and the Aggies' 10th five-setter of the season, setting a school record for most five-set matches played in a season in the 25-point scoring era.
A&M, playing in its first match of a three-match road swing, falls to 12-11 overall and 5-6 in SEC matches. Missouri improves to 20-4 overall and 10-2 in SEC matches as the Tigers won their season-best eighth consecutive match and improved to 9-0 in home matches while also giving Wayne Kreklow his 300 career victory as head coach at Missouri.
Freshman middle blocker London Austin-Roark led Texas A&M with a career-high 15 kills while hitting .440. Junior outside hitter Hollann Hans added 13 kills and completed her team-leading 12th double-double of the season with a match-high 18 digs. Hans also finished with a match-high and career-high eight blocks to come within two blocks of recording the first triple-double of her career.
A&M senior libero Amy Houser reached double-figure digs for the 15th consecutive match and the 20th time this season as she finished with 15. Junior transfer Sydnye Fields drew the first start of her Aggie career and had five kills. Sophomore setter Camille Conner finished with 46 assists.
Missouri had four players record double-figure kills, including Kylie Deberg, who had a match-high 16 kills.
As a team, Missouri outhit A&M, .279 to .204, and led in kills (66-57), assists (65-50), aces (4-3), digs (64-57), blocks (12-11) and points (82-71).

SET-BY-SET SUMMARIES
Set 1 – Texas A&M went ahead, 5-4, on a Missouri attack error, and the Aggies never trailed for the remainder of the set while outhitting the Tigers, .370 to .250. Missouri was within 22-20 when Texas A&M junior outside hitter Brookah Palmer tooled the Tiger block for a kill, and sophomore middle blocker Makena Patterson and Hans followed with a block to put A&M at set point and give the Aggies their largest lead in the stanza, 24-20. Missouri fought off three set points and had a chance to tie the score but served into the net to give A&M the 25-23 win.
Set 2 – Missouri took its first lead at 3-2 and continued to pull away, outhitting A&M, .379 to .071 in the frame. The Tigers had built their then-largest lead at 17-11 and were up 19-14 when they reeled off four consecutive points to go up 23-14. An attack error ended the run, but Missouri came right back, posting consecutive kills to close out the 25-15 win and even the match at a set apiece.
Set 3 – The Aggies used a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the set, with an ace by Palmer putting A&M up, 10-7. Missouri, however, responded with a 4-0 run, three of the points courtesy of A&M miscues. With the Tigers leading, 11-10, the teams began to trade points and A&M tied the score four times before Missouri outscored A&M, 5-2, to build a three-point cushion, 19-16. The Tigers continued to lead, 21-18, before back-to-back kills by Austin-Roark and Sydnye Fields put A&M within 20-21, forcing Missouri to call a timeout. A&M committed consecutive attack errors coming out of the timeout but got lucky when Houser's dig went over the net and fell in for a kill to put A&M within 23-21. Missouri, which outhit A&M, .243 to .146, tooled the block for a kill and was serving for the set, but Patterson's kill prolonged the set and put A&M within 24-22 before Missouri tipped the ball over for the set-winning kill and a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4 – There were 13 ties and six lead changes in the must-win set for the Aggies. A&M used a 4-0 run to build a 19-17 lead, but the Tigers would outscore A&M, 4-1, to regain the lead, 21-20. Austin-Roark knotted the score with one of her six kills in the frame, but Missouri's Leketor Member-Meneh countered with a kill to put the Tigers back on top, 22-21. Austin-Roark followed with another kill to tie the score for the final time. Aggie sophomore opposite hitter Samantha Sanders then gave A&M the lead with her fifth kill in the stanza, and Missouri hit into the net on the ensuing play to put A&M serving for the set, 24-22. Missouri's next attack sailed long as A&M, which outhit Missouri, .387 to .235, closed out the set on a 4-0 run to force the decisive fifth set.
Set 5 – Trailing 3-2, Missouri went on a 10-1 run to build a commanding 12-4 lead. A&M, which was outhit, .308 to .040, in the set, was unable to get closer than six points before Alyssa Munlyn put down the match-winning kill for the Tigers.
