Texas A&M Baseball Lands One of the Nation's Premier Signing Classes
Nov 16, 2018 | Baseball
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M added 14 of the top baseball student-athletes in the United States and Canada for the 2020 season, as it received certification on National Letters of Intent and appropriate paperwork, head coach Rob Childress announced Friday.
"Justin Seely continues to prove that he is one of the elite recruiting coordinators in all of college baseball," Childress said. "Along with Will Bolt and Jeff Christy, they have put together another incredibly talented class that not only fits our needs physically but fits our culture here at Texas A&M. All 14 of these young men have an opportunity to come in and be impactful right away in the best baseball conference in the country—the SEC."
Twelve of the 14 players hail from the state of Texas, including LHP Kade Bragg (Ennis/Ennis HS), OF Logan Britt (Colleyville/Heritage HS), RHP JJ Goss (Cypress/Cypress Ranch HS), INF/RHP Caden Homniok (Brazoria/Sweeny HS), OF/1B/LHP Will Johnston (Roanoke/Keller HS), SS/2B Izzy Lopez (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights HS), RHP Blake Mayfield (Flower Mound/Marcus HS), RHP Mason Ornelas (Fort Worth/L.D. The Aggies also added one player from Nebraska, RHP Cam Wynne (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln HS/Johnson County CC), as well as Dasan Brown, signed from Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
The class is already garnering national attention as Baseball America listed it as the No. 12 recruiting class in the country.
"To be competitive in the SEC every year, you can't miss on a class," Childress said. "You have to a get lot of talent all over the field and on the mound in every class. This class does that and continues a trend we have of attracting highly talented young men with great character. When this class joins the ones we've signed in recent years, it puts us in a great position to compete for SEC titles and trips to Omaha."
