No. 3 Texas A&M hosts No. 6 Baylor Saturday

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 3 Texas A&M equestrian team kicks off a three-meet homestand with a 10 a.m. meet against No. 6 Baylor Saturday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
The Aggies (8-4, 3-2 SEC) are looking to bounce back from an 11-8 loss at No. 2 Auburn on Feb. 17.
Avery Ellis led the Horsemanship squad to a 4-1 victory against the Tigers after tallying her team-high eighth victory of the season by defeating Deanna Green, 75.5-72.5, earning Most Outstanding Player honors.
Rachael Hake extended her four-meet winning streak after outscoring Alex Ladove, 81-77, in Equitation over Fences, while Caroline Dance also contributed a point with her 84-75 win over Hayley Iannotti. Rebekah Chenelle secured the solo victory in Equitation on the Flat, bettering Caitlin Creel, 65-62.
The Bears (4-2, 2-1 Big XII) are coming off a 10-7 victory over No. 7 TCU on Feb. 10 in their spring conference opener. Heading into the break, Baylor had a 5-4 edge over the Horned Frogs where they took Reining, 3-1. TCU took a 7-6 lead after four rides before the Bears earned four out of the last six points with a point in Flat and a 3-1 win in Horsemanship.
The Aggies currently hold an 11-7 advantage over the Bears in the all-time series record. The last meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 5, 2016 where A&M came out ahead, 10-8.
The Maroon & White took a 3-1 lead after Reining before Baylor evened the score at four after Flat. Texas A&M took both Horsemanship and Fences in the second half, 3-2, to clinch the close victory.
