TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach Rob Chlidress
On today's game…
"(John) Doxakis pitched great and we played great defense behind him. We scored early and continued to tack on runs and put the pressure on them against a really good left-hand pitcher that has gotten off to a great start so far this year for Long Beach State."
On (Baine) Schoenvogel throwing a player out at home in the second inning…
"It was a huge momentum gathering play and you can just see the energy level of our team once he made that play to keep the game tied and how excited they were. We just had an amazing approach all day long. One through nine, just a relentless approach eight innings."
On Logan Foster …
"He had a special day, seven RBI, he had a really good day and he has been very consistent for us all year long. It has been fun to watch him grow and develop from an approach stand point this year. When he swings the bat he's got a chance to do damage every time and he is making consistent hard contact every time."
Sophomore LHP John Doxakis
On today's performance…
"My goal was to throw strikes and let them get themselves out and that is what we did. I commanded the fastball good. It was not my best but we made it work and they played great defense behind me when I did throw it in the strike zone they made the plays behind me."
On early trouble on the mound…
"Yeah I was leaving pitches over the middle of the plate the first two innings and Coach Childress called me out and said that I need to start hitting my spots, so I made the commitment and we started hitting our spots and it worked out."
Sophomore OF Logan Foster
On his first homerun of the da …
"Up and down though out the line-up guys definitely were committed to our approach at the plate and the big hit happened to land in my hands and throughout the rest of the game we definitely competed one through nine."
On how he has changed from last year…
"This year I have definitely stuck to staying within myself and not trying to get to big, and moving balls up and down and just expanding them out."
On if his new approach is hard…
"With my new stance I definitely feel a lot more comfortable at the plate, I am not chasing balls down. I know that the guys behind me are going to get to back me up. If I don't get my job done or get a walk they are going drive me in."
Junior 3B George Janca
On getting multiple hits…
"Yeah it felt good, it's a marathon not a sprint and it is a process. Hitting is always a process and I couldn't be more proud of the way we accomplished our goal today. Everyone that was put in the game had good swings and great defense behind (John) Doxakis, who pitched his butt off today, so I was proud of that."
On if his swing has changed …
"It is a process, you are not going to have it every day, but it is about putting consistent ABs together and build off that and bring it tomorrow. The team has carried us this far and I had not been producing much for us, so it is good to finally chip in and help our team win."
