Walters Selected to Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Roster

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M senior catcher Ashley Walters was named to the 2018 summer roster for the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, an independent women's professional softball team based in Conroe, Texas, it was announced Friday.
Walters, who joins the team at the completion of the Aggie season, is accompanied by fellow collegiate seniors Kylee Hanson (Florida State), Emily Griggs (LSU), Carlee Wallace (Baylor), Jazmyn Jackson (Cal), Erika Piancastelli (McNeese), Holly Ward (Mississippi State) and Carley Hoover (LSU), who were named to the team Friday.
The Center Point, Texas, native has enjoyed a stellar career with the Aggies, ranking first all-time in career doubles with 49 and is tied for sixth in career RBI with 159. The four-year starter behind the plate was recently named to the SEC's All-Defensive Team and was also a 2016 All-SEC First Team selection.
This season, Walters is batting .319 with four home runs, 34 RBI and seven doubles. Defensively, Walters has thrown out 11 runners in 19 stolen base attempts.
Scrap Yard Fast Pitch is scheduled to compete in various tournaments throughout the summer including the USA Softball International Cup July 9-15 in Irvine, Calif.
