COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M (8-5, 1-0 SEC), coming off a thrilling three-set sweep against Arkansas to open Southeastern Conference play, returns to Reed Arena on Sunday to play host to the Georgia Bulldogs (10-2, 1-0 SEC), who pulled off an exciting five-set victory over LSU in their SEC opener. First serve is at 2 p.m., and the match will be streamed on SEC Network +, with Casey Richardson and Chelsea Reber calling the action.
The Aggies, picked to finish eight in the SEC this season according to a preseason poll of the league's head coaches, defeated the Razorbacks by the minimum two points in all three sets, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23, on Wednesday at Reed. A&M did it in thrilling fashion, fighting back from a five-point deficit in the first set and a substantial 10-point hole late in the second set en route to the sweep and its first SEC-opener victory in four years.
Georgia, picked to finish tied for fourth with LSU in the preseason coaches poll, battled the Tigers to a 3-2 (25-21, 34-32, 18-25, 16-25, 15-11) victory in its SEC opener on Friday in Athens.
The Bulldogs, who are receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll, are 0-8 against the Aggies since A&M joined the SEC in 2012.

TEXAS A&M IN THE SEC
- The win against Arkansas snapped a three-year streak in which the Aggies dropped their first conference match of the season.
- The Arkansas match on Wednesday marked the first SEC match of Laura "Bird" Kuhn's head coaching career.
- Texas A&M improved to 4-3 in SEC season openers since joining the league in 2012.
- The Aggies are now 4-1 when opening SEC play at home.
- A&M is aiming to start SEC play 2-0 for the third time since joining the league in 2012. The Aggies, who have never gone 3-0 to open SEC play, won their first two SEC matches in both 2012 and 2014.
- In their inaugural SEC season opener, the Aggies defeated Ole Miss on Sept. 14, 2012, at Reed Arena, marking Texas A&M's first SEC victory in any sport. The Aggies went on to finish 16-4, winning the SEC Western Division and placing second overall.
- Texas A&M is 78-33 all-time in SEC matches only.
- The Aggies are 41-15 all-time in SEC home matches only.
- A&M, which went 7-11 in conference matches last season to finish in ninth place in the SEC, were picked to finish eight this year according to a preseason poll of the league's head volleyball coaches.
- Texas A&M junior outside hitter Hollann Hans was named to the nine-member 2018 Preseason All-SEC Team, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
TEXAS A&M-GEORGIA SERIES HISTORY
- A&M leads Georgia, 15-3, in the all-time series which began in 1982.
- The Aggies have won the last 10 meetings and are 8-0 against the Bulldogs in SEC matches only.
- A&M is 6-1 all-time against the Bulldogs in matches played in College Station.
- The Aggies are 4-0 against Georgia in SEC matches played in College Station. Three of those matches were in three-set sweeps, including the most recent meeting at Reed on Nov. 13, 2016.
- Although A&M owns a lopsided lead in the SEC series, four of the eight conference meetings have been decided in five sets. Three of the five-set SEC match-ups were at the Ramsey Center in Athens, and the other five-setter was at Reed Arena on Oct. 24, 2014.
- Georgia's most recent victory over the Aggies was in 1994, when the 19th-ranked Bulldogs defeated A&M, 3-1 (15-11, 7-15, 15-7, 15-6) in a non-conference match at G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station, Texas.
- The teams will meet again on Oct. 14 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens.
TEXAS A&M NOTES
- For the season, A&M is 5-2 in three-set matches, 3-1 in four-set matches and 0-2 in five set matches.
- The Aggies are 3-1 in home matches but 0-4 in true road matches. Their next road match is at LSU, which fell to Georgia, 3-2, in its SEC opener, on Sunday, Sept. 30
- A&M and Georgia have both suffered at least one loss to Oklahoma this season. The Aggies fell to the Sooners, 3-2 and 3-1, at the OU/Nike Invitational in Norman on Sept. 14-15. The Bulldogs suffered a 3-2 setback to Oklahoma at the Buffs Invitational in Boulder, Colorado, on Sept. 7
- For the season, A&M is outhitting its opponents, .229 to .170.
- The Aggies are second in the SEC in assists (12.72), and third in both aces (1.57) and digs (14.66) per set.
- The Aggies have only one senior on the team, libero Amy Houser.
- In the most recent match, A&M started two juniors, outside hitters Hollann Hans and Brookah Palmer, two sophomores, setter Camille Conner and middle blocker Makena Patterson, and two freshmen, middle blocker London Austin-Roark and defensive specialist Allison Fields.
- Conner, Palmer and Austin-Roark have started every match this season and Conner has appeared in all 47 sets.
AGGIE PLAYER NOTES
- Senior libero Amy Houser tied the A&M record for digs in a 3-set SEC match with 19 in the 3-0 win vs. Arkansas. After the opening round of SEC matches, the team captain leads the league with 6.33 digs per set in conference matches only.
- Houser, who has been the libero in 46 of 47 sets, leads the team and is sixth in the SEC with 4.09 digs per set for the full season.
- Houser has recorded double-figure digs in each of the last five matches, including 20 or more digs in three of those five matches. She posted a career-high 24 digs at Oklahoma on Sept. 14.
- Houser, the only senior on the team, has a team-high 235 service receptions. She also has a team-best .974 service reception percentage among players who have at least 10 reception attempts.
- Redshirt junior outside hitter Brookah Palmer had an A&M career-high four aces against Arkansas and is tied for first in the SEC with 1.33 aces per set in conference matches.
- Hollann Hans needs four aces in SEC matches to tie the A&M SEC record of 46 career aces set by Shelby Sullivan in 2015.
- Hans leads A&M and is fourth in the SEC with 0.39 aces and 4.82 points per set for the full season.
- Hans has posted double-figure kills in 10 of 12 matches played, including four matches in which she has recorded 20 or more kills.
- Hans leads the team with four double-doubles, including three double-doubles over the last five matches.
- Camille Conner is fourth in the SEC with 10.40 assists per set for the full season and is second in the league with 11.33 assists per set in SEC play only.
- Freshman defensive specialist Allison Fields, who played libero in the final set in the sweep against Nicholls, has started 11 of 13 matches and has posted double-figure digs six times, including a career-high 20 digs against Missouri State.
- Fields is second on the team with 2.66 digs per set for the full season and 3.67 digs per set in SEC matches only.
- Freshman middle blocker Mallory Talbert, who has started five matches and appeared in eight matches overall, leads the Aggies with 0.94 blocks per set.
- Sophomore middle blocker Makena Patterson had a career-high and match-high 13 kills while hitting .478 in the victory over Arkansas.
- Patterson and Georgia sophomore libero Kendall Glover are both from Phoenix, Arizona, and former teammates at Aspire Volleyball Club. The two were rivals in high school, with Glover's Desert Vista High School defeating Patterson's Xavier College Preparatory in the finals of the 2015 state championship.
- After having appeared in only one match heading into the OU/Nike Invitational on Sept. 14-15, sophomore opposite hitter Samantha Sanders has appeared in each of the last four matches. She came off the bench to play in 11 of 13 sets in Norman, Oklahoma, and had a season-high 11 kills while hitting .308 in four sets played in the 3-2 loss to Oklahoma on Sept. 14. She had six kills and played in every set in the 3-0 win against Arkansas.
- Freshmen defensive specialist Taylor Voss has seen significant playing time as of late, having seen action in 10 matches and 29 sets typically as a server.
GEORGIA QUICK HITS
- Georgia is 10-2 overall and riding a two-match winning streak after opening SEC play with a 25-21, 34-32, 18-25, 16-25, 15-11 victory over LSU in Athens on Friday.
- The Bulldogs are 4-0 in home matches and 2-1 in away matches.
- They are 5-0 in 3-set matches, 3-0 in 4-set matches and 2-2 in 5-set matches.
- Georgia, which went 10-8 in SEC matches to finish in fifth place last season, was picked to finish tied for fourth with LSU in this year's preseason poll of the league's head coaches.
- Georgia leads the SEC with 13.17 assists and 13.96 kills per set and ranks second with 1.77 aces per set for the full season.
- Junior setter Meghan Donovan, who leads the SEC with 11.57 assists per set for the full season after tying her career high with 57 against LSU, is the reigning SEC Setter of the Week. She entered the weekend ranked ninth in the nation with 11.60 assists per set.
- Sophomore outside hitter T'ara Ceasar, a member of the 2018 Preseason All-SEC Team, leads the Bulldogs and is second in the conference with 4.60 kills and 5.09 points per set.
- Ceasar and fellow outside hitter Rachel Ritchie tied for match-high honors with 24 kills in the victory against LSU. It marked Richie's season high, and it was the fifth time this season Ceasar posted 20 or more kills.
- Georgia recorded 75 total kills against LSU, the second most in Georgia rally scoring history for a five-set affair.
- Georgia, which outhit LSU, .251 to .201, is outhitting its opponents, .254 to .180 for the full season.
- Tom Black is 32-14 in his second year as head coach of the Bulldogs.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- The Aggies hit the road for the first time in SEC play and embark on a three-match road swing starting Sunday, Sept. 30, when they take on LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
- A&M, which enters the stretch still looking for its first true road victory, stays on the road the following weekend, facing Florida on Friday, Oct. 5, in Gainesville and playing at South Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 7.
