Women's Basketball'’s Williams Named To SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas A&M junior guard Jasmine Williams was named to the 2019 SEC Women's Basketball Community Service Team, the conference announced Wednesday. The SEC Community Service Team is part of a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
One of Texas A&M's most involved student-athletes, Jasmine Williams participated in several Texas A&M-sponsored volunteer events, including Aggies CAN, the largest student-athlete volunteer run canned food drive in the nation, and Aggies Read, a student outreach that is dedicated to promoting literacy to elementary and middle school students in the local community.
Williams served as a huddle leader for the inaugural student-athlete Fish Camp and volunteered with the Blair's Buddies organization. In the local community, Williams has volunteered at the Aggieland Humane Society, which provides humane care and placement for homeless and abandoned animals and sorted food at the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
This marks the 21st year for the SEC Community Service Team for women's basketball as well as for men's basketball. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
