TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach Rob Childress
On Ty Coleman's home run…
"It was a huge at-bat in the first inning to grab all the momentum. It was a 10-pitch at-bat. For him to stay in that fight and finally get a mistake from the pitcher was huge for us. It was a difference in the game early."
On the team's performance…
We gave Rice some opportunities to get back in the game by some free baserunners, but we did a good job getting ourselves out of some jams. We got to see a bunch of different pitchers on the mound. {Jonathan} Ducoff again with another big hit as well. We had a lot of clutch at-bats with two outs to not only grab the lead but to extend it."
Sophomore LHP Chandler Jozwiak
On his pitching…
"It was mostly working fast ball in and out, especially with the bottom of their order and then top of the order working the slider really good."
On his role for the team…
"I love coming out of the bullpen and being in those tight situations because when you come out of them it shows a lot of emotion and it brings momentum to the team."
Freshman INF Ty Coleman
On his performance against Rice…
"I was really confident today in our approach, staying on the heater, dominating the fastball, and luckily snuck one out of here in a big-time situation. Grabbing the momentum early is what we preach. Then [Jonathan] Ducoff later in the game staying in on another 3-2 count with bases loaded and got another base hit for us."
On the base running call to steal with runners on first and third…
"We have full faith in our coaching staff, and I knew that it was going to work out for the best for us. We do baserunning with batting practice before every game to practice getting reads and jumps. So, we were fully confident we were going to execute it."
Senior OF Jonathan Ducoff
On his offensive production he's lately…
"I think it's just that I've been sticking to the approach of staying in the middle of the field, staying on the ball with guys on base, and sometimes baseball is baseball. It feels like every time I come up to the plate there's guys on base and opportunities, so I just try to do my best with the help of a swing."
