Aggies Advance to NCEA Championships Semifinals

WACO, Texas – No. 2 Texas A&M Equestrian advanced to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Team Championship semifinals with a 10-6 victory over South Carolina Thursday morning at the Extraco Events Center.
South Carolina (10-9) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first event, Equitation on the Flat, before Caroline Dance defeated Lizzie Van Der Walde, 199-154, and Rebekah Chenelle topped Madison Sellman, 234-211, to even the meet.
The Aggies (11-5) swept Horsemanship, 4-0, to take a 6-2 advantage at the break. Katie Conklin led off with a 216.5-212.5 victory over Sloane Vogt. Ashley Davidson topped Caroline Gute, 224.5-217, as Alex Albright scored a 225.5, bettering Quinn Brandt's 209. Sarah Orsak topped Madison Thiel, 217.5-197.5, to conclude the event.
In Equitation over Fences, Haley Redifer secured the first point with a 248-209 victory against Tyler Petrie. Dance toppled Madison Sellman, 245-86, to give the Maroon and White an 8-4 lead.
Courtney Yohey clinched the victory as she defeated Caroline Gute, 208.5-201.5, in Reining. Kalee McCann registered the 10th point for the Aggies, knocking off Jordan Scott, 213.5-212.
The Aggies face sixth-seeded Georgia in the semifinals Thursday evening with the winner advancing to Saturday's championship at 8:40 a.m.
