Texas A&M’s Stacy Sykora Named to Texas Sports Hall of Fame Ballot

WACO, Texas – Former Texas A&M volleyball player and Olympic silver medalist Stacy Sykora was named to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Ballot for the Class of 2021, the entity's selection committee announced Tuesday.
Sykora was a four-year letterwinner for the Texas A&M volleyball team from 1995-98, finishing her 1997 season ranked ninth in the country in digs per game. The two-time All-American joined the United States National Team in 1999, just one month after completing her four-year career at Texas A&M.
The Burleson, Texas, native was a three-time Olympian, participating in the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. She was the starting libero for the United States, earning Best Digger honors twice, earning Best Digger at the 2000 Sydney Games and 2004 Athens Games. Sykora was a member of the United States volleyball team that garnered silver at the 2008 Beijing Games. She was the first Texas A&M athlete to compete in three Olympic Games.
In 2010, Sykora was selected as the USA Volleyball Indoor Female Athlete of the Year and was named the Best Libero at the FIVB World Championship.
Sykora played professionally for 12 years and was inducted in the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005. She also lettered in track and basketball while at Texas A&M.
