
'The Pulse' Earns Second Emmy Award

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M Athletics' 12th Man Productions earned the 2020 Lone Star Regional Sports EMMY Award for Sports Program – Post Produced/Edited from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, recognizing the excellence of the 2019 edition of the weekly program 'The Pulse: Texas A&M Football' on Tuesday evening.
"On behalf of the incredibly talented staff at 12th Man Productions, we thank the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the 2020 EMMY Award," Texas A&M Associate Athletics Director – 12th Man Productions Andy Richardson said. "We salute our TV show crew, Buddy Kimberlin, Cade Key, Mason Flick and Will Johnson, whose creative work gives life to the stories of the Aggie football team. As we celebrate this recognition, we also thank Coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff for the trust and empowerment to allow our cameras the exclusive access to the program."
'The Pulse' also hauled in a Lone Star EMMY in 2016 and earned a Bronze Telly in May.
The 30-minute show, which returns for its seventh season overall and second year on ESPNU, highlights exclusive content inside Aggie Football under the guidance of Fisher, giving fans a unique perspective of the plays and the playmakers for the Maroon & White.
Kimberlin (assistant athletics director) Key (production manager) and Flick (senior producer) create the weekly show. Richardson serves as the executive producer while Johnson is the writer and narrator for the series. Texas A&M Ventures is the multimedia rightsholder for the Aggies and local Learfield IMG College team that works alongside Texas A&M Athletics.
Under the direction of Richardson, 12th Man Productions has received an extraordinary amount of recognition over the years, including winning a pair of Telly Awards in 2020. The production group was honored as the 2018 recipient of the SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award, annually presented to the university athletics department that meets the outlined criteria of commitment to investment in and execution of broadcast and video infrastructure and technologies.
Additionally 12th Man Productions has taken home multiple SVG Awards, including in 2013 for Program Series and in 2016 for Live Studio/Remoted Hosted Programing. The group also produced the critically acclaimed documentary "The Burning Desire", a 10th year anniversary retrospective of the 1999 Bonfire tragedy.
The 12th Man Productions staff consists of 15 full-time professional members supporting post-production, as well as live event productions. Cultivating the next generation of video production, 12th Man Productions also includes a work force of over 80 students trained to support live control room events and post-production projects including SEC Network broadcasts, live event stadium productions and team content.
