Morrison Signs Contract Extension Through 2031
Mar 09, 2026 | General
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M volleyball head coach Jamie Morrison signed a new five-year contract that extends through the 2031 season, Director of Athletics Trev Alberts announced Monday.
Morrison's extension comes after leading the Aggies to their first national title in program history in just his third year in Aggieland. During that time, he has guided the team to a 66-25 record, three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a No. 1 national ranking which was a first for Texas A&M.
"Jamie has quickly built a program that is respected nationwide for its level of success on the court," Alberts said. "He has raised the standard of Aggie volleyball and I am confident that in the coming years we will see new chapters in his elevation of the volleyball community in and beyond Aggieland. His vision aligns exactly with what we believe Texas A&M should represent. We are thrilled to recognize his tremendous accomplishments and exceptional leadership as he continues to guide our program into an exciting future."
The Maroon & White's 2025 postseason run was one for the ages, as Morrison's group downed three-straight No. 1 seeds in the final three rounds to win the NCAA title. The Aggies defeated Nebraska on their home court, becoming the first team to do so since 2022, which earned their first Final Four berth. In Kansas City, the Aggies secured two dominant sweeps over Pittsburgh and Kentucky to become the 13th institution to win a national championship.
Morrison's NCAA title landed him in elite company, as he became one of only three coaches to win a national championship in their first three seasons as a head coach. The American Volleyball Coaches Association took note of his achievements, naming him the Division I National Coach of the Year.
"I would like to thank interim President Tommy Williams, Chancellor Glenn Hegar, the Texas A&M Board of Regents and Director of Athletics Trev Alberts for their faith in my staff and me to lead this incredible group of young women," Morrison said. "Over the past three years, we've proven what everyone believed was possible at Texas A&M, building a program capable of winning championships. The 12th Man has embraced this team, this sport, my family, and we are grateful to call Aggieland home. We have built a strong foundation, we've shown what we're capable of and we're just getting started."
Development is a key tenant for Morrison, and it has been evident in his players through his three years at the helm. His athletes have earned six AVCA All-America honors in the past two seasons, including a program record four in the 2025 campaign. He's also guided his group to nine All-Region honors, 13 All-Conference accolades and 11 NCAA Tournament awards.
Building on his international coaching roots, Morrison guided three players to the national team level since his arrival in Aggieland. Logan Lednicky was called up for the senior national team and represented the Red, White and Blue at the Volleyball Nation's League. Ifenna Cos-Okpalla represented the United States at the U23 Pan American Cup, winning the title and being named Tournament MVP, while Kyndal Stowers most recently was named to the Collegiate National Training Team.
His most recent graduating class also took the leap to the professional level, as four players from the 2025 team landed in the two leagues in the United States including League One Volleyball and Major League Volleyball.
