Wells Makes Cheryl Miller Award Watchlist
Oct 27, 2021 | Women's Basketball
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Texas A&M women's basketball's Kayla Wells was selected to the Cheryl Miller Award Watchlist, featuring 20 of the best small forwards in the country, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.
Wells has been named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watchlist for the third time in her career. The Dallas native is entering her fifth season on the A&M roster, after deciding to come back to Aggieland and not enter the 2021 WNBA Draft this offseason.
Earlier this week, the graduate student found herself on the Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Second Team. The Aggie has played in 125 games in the Maroon & White and has made 94 starts for head coach Gary Blair.
Wells begins the 2021-22 season as the all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage (.369) and currently sits at 13th on the A&M all-time scoring list with 1,321 career points.
Wells and the Aggies hit the court for the first time this season in an exhibition game versus Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. at Reed Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 3. Attendance is free to the public. The team was picked to finish second by the league coaches and is No. 23 in the Associated Press Preseason Top-25 Poll.
Season tickets for the upcoming season are available through the 12th Man Foundation and can be purchased online here or via the 12th Man Mobile app.
