Texas A&M Women Rank No. 2 in National Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The Aggie women's track & field team remained No. 2 in the nation in week three of the Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Associations indoor track & field national ratings index, the men's team is No. 13.
The Texas A&M women's team ranks in the top five in six of the event squad rankings, including No. 1 in the 400m. Aggies are No. 2 in the long jump, No. 3 in the 200m and 800m, No. 4 in the 60m hurdles and No. 5 in the 60m.
Individually, the Aggies are led by junior Tyra Gittens and freshman Athing Mu, the duo each have a pair of NCAA-leading marks. Gittens is No. 1 in the high jump (1.91m/6-3.25) and pentathlon (4,612), while Mu leads the nation in the 400m (50.52) and 800m (2:01.07). Gittens is also ranked No. 3 in the long jump (6.62m/21-8.75).
Aggies in the top 5 in their respective event include Charokee Young No. 2 in the 400m (51.93) and Deborah Acquah No. 2 in the long jump (6.65m/21-10) and No. 4 in the triple jump (13.75m/45-1.5). The 4x400m relay group of Jania Martin, Young, Dominque Mustin and Mu have clocked the nation's second fastest time at 3:31.53 (altitude converted from 3:31.09).
Freshman Laila Owens and sophomore Kaylah Robinson each rank No. 9 in their event, Owens in the 200m (23.31) and Robinson in the 60m hurdles (8.16).
The men's team is ranked in the top 15 for a third consecutive week coming in at No. 13. Leading the way for the Aggies is senior Bryce Deadmon who leads the country with the fastest 400m time in Division I at 45.50 (altitude converted from 45.29).
Freshman Brandon Miller is ranked No. 6 in the nation in the 800m with a time of 1:48.63 (altitude converted from 1:48.94)
In the event rankings, the Maroon & White rank in the top 10 in four disciplines. The 400m squad of Deadmon, Miller, Jake Lanier, Colby Zamzow, Peyton Hofferichter, Austin Warren and Ricky Waer are No. 3 in the nation. The 800m squad is No. 6, 60m hurdles is No. 8 and the pole vault group is No. 9.
