Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Buzz Williams
Opening Statement…
"I thought our energy in the second half was noticeably different than the first half. I thought that was the difference in the game. I thought in the first half we were too lackadaisical against their zone pressure. I didn't think our guards did a very good job rebounding the ball and I thought in the second half we were much more engaged, played with a lot more energy. Everybody did. Our guards were distinctly different on the glass and I think that that was the difference."
On not just keeping, but extending their lead…
"We talked at halftime. We weren't playing terribly but in order for us to have any chance for success, we have to be hard-playing, diving on the floor, most dap of any team in the country. We weren't awful but not super excited. I thought we started the second half better, but as we were getting closer to the first media timeout, I think we had three of our six turnovers right there were almost back-to-back. Then I thought from that point forward from an offensive standpoint, we executed at a much higher rate and didn't turn it over which helped the lead."
Junior Guard Tyrece Radford
On what they can improve on…
"We could've done better on our defensive rebounds. They got way too many offensive rebounds in the first half. We could've done better there. We make a big emphasis on rebounding because we got height, but we try to get our guards to get more rebounds to help the team. So I feel like that's what we could've done better at."
On getting low on the shot clock…
"I think it was just not rushing it even though when the shot clock runs down it puts more pressure on you. I think I did a good job with just staying calm and handling the situation right."
Sophomore Forward Henry Coleman III
On what they've learned about the team…
"I think that we're a hungry team. We're a team that's still young. I think we're all learning as a team how to be the best version of Texas A&M and I think that's something that we'll hopefully be able to learn quickly. In every game, we learn something new. If we continue to keep growing and learning as a team and individually, I think we'll hopefully achieve our end-of-season goals."
