No. 11 Women’s Golf Gears up for Regular-Season Finale
Apr 03, 2022 | Women's Golf
NAPA, Calif. – The No. 11 Texas A&M women's golf team looks to end its historic regular season a high note at the Silverado Showdown April 4-6 at the par-72, 6,192-yard Silverado Resort and Spa Golf Course.
"It is such an honor to get invited to play in this field and at this venue," head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "This is going to give us a good look as to what we could run into at a regional later down the line. We are carrying a whole lot of momentum with us into Napa, and we are hoping we can finish out the regular season on a high note."
A Year to Remember
The Aggies are riding a wave of momentum heading into the final regular-season tournament. During Chadwell's inaugural year, the team has achieved a 54-hole program scoring record (-20 – Sam Golden Invitational), the lowest round in school history (-14 – Clover Cup) and has finished in the top six in every outing this season.
Last Time Out
Texas A&M secured its third runner-up finish of the season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in its latest performance. Hailee Cooper posted the best finish of her season, carding a 3-over 219 in harsh conditions to secure a tie of fifth place.
The Lineup
Leading the Aggies are Cooper, Adela Cernousek, Blanca Fernández García-Poggio, Jennie Park and Zoe Slaughter. Four of the golfers in the starting lineup have recorded top-five finishes with Fernández García-Poggio adding a tourney championship at the Sam Golden Invitational earlier this season.
